I'm always open to technologies and artificial intelligence is undoubtedly one of them. Yet I often encountered the trade-off between powerful AI models and control over my own data and privacy, not to mention the costs often associated with cloud-based AI services.
This brought me to a fascinating open source solution: LocalAI. It allowed me to run AI models locally, on my own hardware. This concept, self-hosting advanced AI functionalities, fit perfectly with my vision of digital independence. The setup via Docker also made it surprisingly accessible, even for complex systems.
I've experimented extensively with implementing LocalAI into my own workflow and dug deep into the practical aspects. From the initial installation in Docker to the daily application and the unexpected challenges and breakthroughs I encountered. I am convinced that this can be a game changer for many fellow entrepreneurs.
In this series of articles I want to share my journey with LocalAI.
