Greenpath: a booking hub for the conscious traveler

Green Path had been working on the development of a platform for sustainable travel for some time, but was in a phase where the project had stalled. The original request was simple: "Can you develop on this existing code?" Naturally, I was happy to do so, but when I looked under the hood, it turned out there was an insufficient solid foundation. In fact, further developing the existing code would ultimately cost much more time and money than starting over.

Instead of unnecessarily patching up fragile foundations, I took a step back to look at the bigger picture.

Switching to a custom VitesseCMS base

Because the initial setup offered insufficient stability, I proposed switching to my own custom VitesseCMS environment. Since all fundamental CMS requirements are already incorporated as standard, a robust and scalable foundation was up and running in no time.

A major advantage of this system is that content can be edited directly on the page (frontend editing). Consequently, the founders do not have to struggle with a cluttered and cumbersome administration interface in the first instance; They can get straight to work on the design.

Strategic brainstorming on technology, AI, and revenue models

Together with the ladies, I pulled up a chair to dive deep. We didn't just look at the technology, but also had a thorough discussion about the long-term vision:

• Expectations and scope: What should the website deliver immediately, and what is for later?
• The future: How do we configure the architecture so that, in the long term, an AI agent can be seamlessly linked to the site for personalized travel suggestions?
• Business model & monetization: We examined the commercial opportunities. For instance, affiliate marketing as a revenue source had not yet been specifically included, even though it is a logical and profitable pillar for a platform with a carefully curated overview of sustainable hotels and holiday homes.

The result: A future-proof website

The site is now live, and hard work is being done behind the scenes to fill the content. There is now a lightning-fast, solid, and future-proof foundation upon which the Green Path team can continue building completely independently and flexibly.
